The DCMI Education Metadata Set

The DCMI Education Application Profile defines the set of semantics useful for supporting the description of educational materials in a distributed environment. The schema below is based on the metadata set developed by DCMI Education working group. The original version can be found at http://purl.org/DC/documents/wd/education-20001005.htm.

A draft RDFS encoding of the namespace is available from the DC site.

A draft RDFS encoding of the application profile in a form suitable for registration in the SCHEMAS metadata registry is also available.

Title	dc:title	A name given to the resource
Contributor	dc:contributor	An entity responsible for making contributions to the content of the resource
Creator	dc:creator	An entity primarily responsible for making the content of the resource. Datatype
Publisher	dc:publisher	An entity responsible for making the resource available
Subject	dc:subject	The topic of the content of the resource.
Description	dc:description	The topic of the content of the resource.
Date	dc:date	A date associated with an event in the life cycle of the resource.
Type	dc:type	The nature or genre of the content of the resource
Format	dc:format	The physical or digital manifestation of the resource.
Identifier	dc:identifier	An unambiguous reference to the resource within a given context
Language	dc:language	A language of the intellectual content of the resource.
Source	dc:source	A Reference to a resource from which the present resource is derived
Coverage	dc:coverage	The extent or scope of the content of the resource.
Rights	dc:rights	Information about rights held in and over the resource.
Audience	DCEd:audience	A category of user for whom the resource is intended.
Audience.Mediator	DCEd:audienceMediator (subproperty of DCEd:audience)	An entity that mediates access to the resource.
Standards	DCEd:standards	A reference to an established education or training standard to which the resource is associated.
Standards.Identifier	DCEd:standardsIdentifier (subproperty of DCEd:standards)	Where available, an identifier that serves to uniquely identify the standard being associated
Standards.Version	DCEd:standardsVersion (subproperty of DCEd:standards)	Information identifying the version of the standard being referenced (e.g., a year of publication, a version number, etc.)
InteractivityType	ieee-lom:interactivityType	The flow of interaction between this resource and the intended user
InteractivityLevel	ieee-lom:interactivityLevel	The degree of interactivity between the end user and this resource.
TypicalLearningTime	ieee-lom:typicalLearningTime	Approximate or typical time it takes to work with this resource.
