Types of schemas
Namespaces: declare canonical names and definitions of vocabulary terms (e.g. Dublin Core standard; controlled vocabularies)
Application profiles: (only) reuse vocabulary terms from namespaces
- May package terms from multiple namespaces
- May adapt definitions to local purposes
Annotations: commentaries, endorsements, translations layered on namespaces or profiles
